Nepal Rain-Induced Calamities Claim Over Fifty Lives

(MENAFN) The death toll from a series of rain-triggered calamities in Nepal has risen to 51, according to a report from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority on Tuesday.

The devastating events include 38 fatalities from landslides, 10 from floods, and three from lightning strikes, the agency confirmed in a statement.

In addition, six people remain missing, including five who were swept away by the floods. The disaster has also left 47 people injured, the report revealed.

The Nepal Army, supported by other security forces, has successfully rescued 1,337 individuals across 15 affected districts, the military announced.

The relentless rainfall, which began on Friday evening, has caused widespread destruction to infrastructure, including key highways and hydropower plants, exacerbating the ongoing crisis.
